Vodka superior

Story

Thanks to nature, Lammefjorden has evolved magnificently into the deepest tract of reclaimed land in Northern Europe. This is where the idea emerged of transforming a surplus resource into deluxe vodka.

Why not revive the more-than-200-year-old tradition of producing alcohol from potatoes, reap the benefits of nature’s treasure chest and transform local surplus potatoes into deluxe vodka? Such were the thoughts of three local entrepreneurs: Kasper Jacobsen, Aage Lohmann and Jens Læssøe. Anyone who enjoys a glass of Danish-produced vodka to enrich a pleasant moment would certainly be delighted.

Today it sizzles and boils in the 100-m2 micro-distillery in the annexe of a three-winged farmhouse in Bjergesø at the edge of Lammefjorden, with spectacular views of the open countryside.

Product

The secret spice in our crystal clear vodka is the soil. That is why we call it simply ‘Nordic Soil’.

Every single drop in the bottle-upon-bottle of vodka we tap every year from our copper boilers comes from the region’s surplus potatoes. They have grown on the reclaimed, vitamin-rich seabed, so they are steeped in the sap and intensity of the soil that was under water for thousands of years.

The Distillery of Lammefjorden has local roots – so does the product. Even though the finished vodka is intended for drinking in Copenhagen, New York and London, it still has to taste of Lammefjorden.

So far, this crystal clear vodka is the distillery’s only product, but we’re cooking up lots of other sustainable drinkable ideas.
